GOODBYE IDOL, or, I DID IT MY WAY

Well, it's finally come to an end. And what a competition it has been! I can't believe how far I've come in this, to have made it this far is such an honour for me; to be in the company of some very fine writers makes it even better that people have read, enjoyed and voted for me over the past few months.

I've made a quick voice post sharing my thoughts on this competition, feel free to have a listen and let me know YOUR thoughts. I'll give you a penny for them 😉

Lots of love,

Steph

  1. I don’t want you to go anywhere :cries:

This contest is so amazing on so many levels…I found myself nodding to everything you said.

Next project; Become rich so I can fly down there to visit you!

  2. I’m in the middle of work, so I’ll have to check out the voice post later (love the accent!). My favorite post from you all season has to be the poem about the grocery cart escaping to the ocean. That was pure brilliance.

  3. You have a beautiful voice and such an awesome accent!

Oh dear – I’m sorry you’re sick. *hugs*

Thank you for making this video – I think it reveals a lovely person behind the lovely writing.

I will miss you and your entries.

  4. Just listened to your wonderful voice-post. You’re definitely leaving the competition on a high note, and I am thrilled to hear that you’ve taken inspiration from this to go out and do even more writing. I think that makes you a winner =)

  5. First-

Your voice melts my heart into globs of thick, sweet goo. If you don’t end up pursuing writing, you could certainly pursue voice acting. I mean it.

    Second-

You say just about everything I would have said this week, except a thousand million times better.

    Third-

Thank you so much for this. You have no idea how hopeful and happy it makes me.

    Fourth-

Can we be LJ friends (forever)?

    • 1) Thank you. That is the weirdest/nicest thing anyone has ever said to me. hahaha!
2.) Well now I don’t know about that. I read your lovely goodbye and it was clear and succinct and after i read that I wanted to change mine all over again because there was so much umming and ahhhing in mine….but i am so glad that what I said resonated with you 🙂
3.) I’m SO happy to hear that. I hope you go out into the world and write your heart out.
      4.) Yes.

  6. This is beautiful, and wonderful, and brought tears to my eyes. I wish you so, sooo much luck and happiness with your writing, and I hope your health improves so that you have the energy to pursue it.

Your entries have been consistently among my favorites this season — and yes, particularly the shopping trolley. 🙂

  7. It’s been wonderful to have you in Idol! Your writing is completely lovely, and I also enjoyed hearing your voice. Everything you said about the competition is totally true.

    May I friend you?

  8. Aww Steph. I’m so sad it’s come to and end 😦 I may not have commented much but I have read and cherished everything you have written. You are a star and I love that I know you and that we got to read your work for so long.

Now … don’t be a stranger, hear? You can keep writing and posting so we don’t all starve from lack of Stephness, right?

  9. OMG your voice is so gorgeous. And I am saying that as a fellow Aussie 😛 And I just loved listening to this so much!! Sad to see you go, but awww! And I so know what you mean about the fear of not writing being the greater… same here. ♥ I’m just sitting here, nodding along 🙂 I think this post is my new happy place 😀

The NUMBER of times I’ve had NO ideas and been on the verge of dropping out, then turning around and pulling something out of my butt at the 11th hour, omg! I just couldn’t drop either. I totally get that. DAMN I GET THIS SO MUCH.

    *stands and applauds*

  10. Idol is everything you say it is and more. I’m really glad you got so much out of it and even more glad to hear that you’re going to pursue your own projects (the one downer of Idol is that it’s such a time suck and is great for procrastination).

    Friending you if that’s OK.

  11. Dear Steph,

First, I’m sorry you got voted off this week. I have to admit, I haven’t been following LJI closely for the past few weeks, but I ALWAYS enjoyed reading your entries when I was playing, and tried to comment and let you know that.

Second, I hope your health issues get straightened out as soon as possible. Struggling with health stuff is always a drag!

Finally, I like the last point you made in your voice post the best, although maybe that’s because I’m also one of the fallen. *grin*

    All the best!

    Dan

    • thank you dan 🙂 You’ve always been particularly lovely so I’m so glad you listened to my thank you. (the last point is my favourite too – I’m glad it resonated with you :))

      Love steph
